How to Choose the Right Size at Aakasha: Body vs. Garment Measurements Explained
When shopping for handmade clothing, one of the most common questions we hear is:
“How do I know which size to choose?”
At Aakasha, we do things a little differently than most fast fashion brands. Our pieces are made to order, often with an oversized and relaxed fit, and crafted with great attention to comfort, silhouette, and movement. That’s why understanding the difference between body measurements and garment measurements is key.
Body Measurements vs. Garment Measurements
Body measurements are your actual physical dimensions – the size of your bust, waist, hips, and height.
Garment measurements, on the other hand, are the dimensions of the finished clothing piece.
Here’s the catch: if you choose your size based on garment measurements, the final result might be misleading – especially with our loose, oversized styles. To get the same flowy, relaxed Aakasha silhouette you see in our photos, you need to pick your size based on your body measurements.
So, How Do You Choose the Right Aakasha Size?
We’ve made it simple:
-
Check our Size Chart – it shows the recommended body measurements for each size (XS to 3XL).
-
Read the product description – you’ll find notes on whether the design is fitted, loose, or very oversized.
-
Still unsure? Add your measurements at checkout! We offer free custom sizing – just include your height, bust, waist, and hips in the order notes. Our team will adjust the pattern for the best fit.
Tip: If you’re between sizes, go with the smaller one – our styles are often generously cut.
Custom Sizes & Special Notes
-
Sizes 3XL and above are considered custom and are not refundable unless there’s a defect.
-
If you’re above 3XL, just include your measurements – we’ll create a piece just for you.
Choosing the right size means you’ll feel as good as you look – and avoid unnecessary returns, which also supports our sustainable fashion mission. Every piece is made-to-order in our European studio, so let’s make it perfect from the start.
